Creating a Feeling of Home Through Collaboration

Our Homes for All Veterans (HAV) program provides outreach, case management, and support accessing community and mainstream resources to more than 1,000 Veteran households each year who are experiencing literal homelessness or in danger of homelessness throughout the state of Colorado. The work that we do cannot be done in isolation which is why we have developed partnerships with other organizations and individuals in our community. This collaboration comes in a myriad of shapes and sizes – everything from inter-agency work on locating and securing housing to identifying and connecting Veterans and their families with community resources. Our Colorado Springs HAV team works in collaboration with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and local elementary schools to provide “Welcome Home Baskets” for Veterans. The baskets are a perfect example of a seemingly small collaboration that has a major and lasting impact and illustrates the supportive and generous community of which we are proud to be a part.
