March Community Forum

Last week RMHS was thrilled to host its first Community Forum of 2018 at Laradon in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood. The 60+ attendees learned about services for Denver residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including a review of accomplishments in 2017. Additionally, providers of mill levy-funded services hosted tables where attendees could learn more about available services, and six agencies presented about the great work they’re doing.

Thank you to Activity Options, Celebrate EDU, Connect Us, Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities, DRCOG, Financial Health Institute, Goodwill, Guided by Humanity, Jewish Family Service, Laradon, Parent to Parent, Stellar Care, T.A.C.T., Tennyson Center for Children, THRIVE and the Wayfaring Band for letting the community know more about your work to enhance the well-being of people in our community! For more information about the awesome programs offered by these organizations, check out our website.

One of the things we were particularly excited to hear about was how our community partners are partnering with one another! T.A.C.T. will be refurbishing a school bus to turn it into a mobile meditation space for Guided by Humanity. Guided by Humanity is providing weekly yoga classes at Goodwill. And Financial Health Institute is offering classes to people at Laradon! It’s all about collaboration. The more we talk, the more we connect, the more we accomplish!

We were asked some great questions and were able to engage in wonderful discussion with our community! We captured the questions and answers in a listening log which can be viewed here. A copy of the Community Forum presentation is available here. Looking for a complete copy of our annual mill levy report? You can find it here.
