Enjoy some fun in the sun with music, dancing, food and unique activities at this year’s Summerfest from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Sept. 13, at Ruby Hill Park Pavilion. Rocky Mountain Human Services hosts this annual celebration for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event will feature popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and lunch, plus activities such as:
Music and dancing with DJ Big Styles Shawn White. Shawn will play popular dance music, like “Shake It Off” and “Uptown Funk.”
A visit from a variety of incredible creatures from the Downtown Aquarium. Will it be a boa constrictor, a hedgehog or a porcupine? Join us at Summerfest to find out.
The rhythms of hand drums and tambourines with Gregg Wilson, who will be leading a fun drum circle activity.
Balloon animals and face-painting by the wonderful providers from Angels Service, an agency that supports those with I/DD through massage therapy.
Yoga with Guided by Humanity in the amazing art-covered Mindfulness Bus. Founder Mary Sims will lead us through relaxing yoga sessions, such as SoundOff Headphone Yoga.
Immersive stories you can hear, feel and smell with Touching Stories. Sensory storyteller Gwen Bonilla will share stories enhanced with sensory stimulation like the smell of a campfire, the feel of a warm blanket or the sound of a bee hive.
Tons of fun summer games like corn hole, frisbee and hula hoops.
