Ways to Celebrate Earth Day in Colorado

This Friday, April 22 is Earth Day and to celebrate, we wanted to share some ways you can participate, including local events happening across the state.

Celebrate from home: has a great list of activities to celebrate Earth Day at home.


Denver Botanic Gardens: Seedlings: Earth Day

Seedlings classes offer a fun, hands-on way for young children to explore the plant world while developing an understanding and appreciation for plants and their importance. Programs include stories, nature walks and art projects. Program Fee: $10 nonmember toddler or preschooler, $8 member toddler or preschooler; one adult per child is admitted free of charge.

Celebrate Earth Day while exploring the garden and enjoy the beauty of nature. Plant seeds in an ecofriendly planting container.

  • Ages 3-6 years: Wednesday, April 20, 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.

  • Ages 24-36 months: Thursday, April 21, 9:15 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

  • Ages 18-24 months: Friday, April 22, 9:15 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

Brought to you by the good people at Sustainable Living Association, this Earth Day celebration is full of vendor booths, food trucks, a kids zone and more!

Compost Queen will be hosting a kids scavenger hunt and collecting compost from the event. Visit us near the kids zone to start your scavenger hunt. Visit a collection of booths around the event to find the secret answers! Return back to us with your findings and we’ll help you transplant a tree or annual with food scrap compost to help it grow!


Spring Fest: An Earth Day Celebration

Visit CSU Pueblo on Friday, April 22, from 5-8 PM for Spring Fest, an Earth Day Celebration that's free and open to the public at the OSC South Patio. Spring Fest will feature live music, a cash bar, FREE FOOD, games, and activities for the whole family! Help us celebrate CSU Pueblo's new re-imagined patio space, learn more about our new campus banking partner, Canvas Credit Union, win prizes, and hear exciting news about the future of campus alongside great company!

Earth Day Story on the Trail and Upcycled Craft

Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80906

Saturday, April 23, 10:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Nature Walk meets story time during a self-guided children’s story while walking along a trail. Stop in the nature center afterwards for a take-home craft made with upcycled materials.

Celebrate Earth Day with a premier outdoor festival!

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.: Learn from the valley's arborists, take a guided notable tree walk in Lincoln Park, and get a free tree seedling!

12 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Listen to live music while you try out the valley's food trucks and sip on Colorado craft beer! Live music, food trucks, touch a truck, and artisan booths. The first 500 kids receive free ice cream from the Peak Ready Mix booth. $25 for the beer tasting.
