Welcome to the RMHS 2025 Holiday Resource Guide!

The holiday season is a time for connection, care, and community. This guide was created to help individuals and families across Colorado find the right support this winter from free holiday meals and food boxes to toy drives, community events, and other essential resources.

Whether you’re seeking a warm meal, gifts for children, or ways to give back, we hope this guide helps make the season a little brighter for everyone.

Food Resources – Denver

Bienvenidos Food Bank

Bienvenidos Food Bank will be open on the first three Thursdays of November (November 6, 13, and 20). It is closed on Thanksgiving. The food bank provides fresh and nonperishable food items to low-income seniors, individuals, and families. No appointment necessary. Hours of operation: 10 a.m.–noon and 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Same Café – Community Thanksgiving Meal

Same Café will serve a Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, November 26, from 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. No registration required. The café also offers community lunches Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Diners are invited to contribute by volunteering their time, donating produce, or offering funds in exchange for their meal.

On Tuesday, November 25 from 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Servicios de la Raza invites individuals and families to drop in for a Thanksgiving turkey and a basket of assorted Thanksgiving food. Families can register upon arrival, and supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Saturday, November 22 at 11:30 a.m., community members in need of a little extra help this season can pick up a grocery box filled with items for a Thanksgiving meal. Distribution is limited to one box per household and will continue while supplies last. Enter at S. Santa Fe Dr & S. Sumner St.

Benefits in Action – Food Boxes for Seniors

Benefits in Action delivers food boxes with both fresh and non-perishable items for adults ages 60 and older who qualify for SNAP and are unable to obtain food on their own. To start receiving assistance, complete the online application or call their office at (720) 221-8354.

Deliveries are currently available in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, and Jefferson counties.

Fall Into Resources: Community Fair for Families and Seniors

Almost Home Inc. and Kiwanis are partnering to provide winter coats for families and seniors. The event will also offer free flu shots and on-site wellness checks. Several community partners will be present to share information about available resources. Event takes place on Wednesday, November 19 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Almost Home, Inc. will partner with St. Augustine Community Food Pantry and the Knights of Columbus Council 3285 to offer Thanksgiving meal baskets to families in need this holiday season. The distribution of meal boxes will occur at the Columbian Home Event Center on Saturday, November 22 from 9–11 a.m.

Registration Information: You must register in person at the Almost Home Housing Navigation Center during walk-in hours to obtain a reservation card before the event date.

Operation Free Bird – Thanksgiving Ingredients & Community Fair

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office will host Operation Free Bird on November 22, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. This event will ensure residents have access to the various ingredients they need to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. Additionally, this event will feature other useful services including dental checkups, flu vaccinations, mental health support, veteran assistance, housing and food resources, and fun activities for children.

Mercy’s Gate is offering uncooked, prepackaged Thanksgiving meal kits to those in need this November.

Registration Information: Registration is first come, first served and must be completed in person during specific registration windows between October 30 and November 15. Once registered, you’ll receive a pickup date and time for you to pick up your meal basket. Registration times between October 30 and November 15 are as follows:

  • Mondays: 5–7 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m.–noon
  • Thursdays: 10 a.m.–noon, 2–4 p.m.
  • Fridays: 5–7 p.m.

Springs Rescue Mission – Community Thanksgiving Meal

On Wednesday, November 25, from 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m., the Springs Rescue Mission invites individuals in Colorado Springs to stop by for a Thanksgiving meal. Regular meal services, which include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will also be available on Thanksgiving Day.

The Salvation Army of Greeley will host a hot Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday, November 25, from 10:30 a.m.–noon. Guests may choose to enjoy their meal on-site or take it to go in a provided container.

Jackson County – Thanksgiving Meal Kits

Jackson County residents can register to receive a Thanksgiving basket, which will be given to Walden families in need of a little extra help this year. Each basket includes all the ingredients needed to prepare a full Thanksgiving meal including a turkey.

Mountain Family Center’s Food Pantry is offering grocery gift cards to help Grand County residents prepare their Thanksgiving meals.

Registration Information: To participate, sign up at either the Granby or Kremmling food pantry locations by Friday, November 14. Participants must be Grand County residents and current food pantry clients.

Each registered child will receive a brand-new toy, a stuffed animal, and possibly a game or even a bike (distributed throughout the day) on December 6 at their assigned time.

Registration Information: Registration for the Toy Shop in Denver opens on December 4 and typically fills up quickly. If you’re unable to register, you may still stop by after 3 p.m. to pick up a toy while supplies last.

Denver Santa Claus Toy Shop

The Denver Santa Claus Shop invites parents referred by Denver Human Services, social service agencies, or community partners to shop for new toys for their children (ages 0–11) in early December. Visit their website for a list of organizations families can receive services from to qualify for this program. Event dates are: December 12, 13, 15, & 16.

Registration Information: Registration for the Denver Toy Shop opens at 8 a.m. on November 15. Visit their Facebook page for the most current information and the registration link.

The Bob Telmosse Foundation will distribute Christmas gifts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 20 at the Norris Penrose Event Center on a first come first serve basis while supplies last. Families in need in the Pikes Peak region can receive toys, food, and plenty of holiday cheer during this event.

Each registered child will receive a brand-new toy, a small new toy, and a new stocking on December 6 at their scheduled time. Registration is required to participate in the Colorado Springs Toy Shop. Event Location: YMCA at 1st and Main.

Registration Information: Online registration opens at 9 a.m. on the Wednesday before the event begins on the website. Be sure to sign up early, as space is limited.

The Mountain Family Center provides holiday gifts for children living in Grand County. Children will receive age-appropriate gifts, and parents may receive grocery gift cards. To be eligible, children must present a school ID or proof of residence in Grand County.

Registration Information: Pre-registration is required by December 12 and can be completed in person at the Granby Food Pantry located below.

The Colorado Gerontological Society will deliver holiday baskets filled with festive food and pantry items to hundreds of older adults in the Denver metro area who may spend the holidays alone. Intended for low-income, elderly individuals living independently, these baskets will be delivered on December 13 from 10–11:30 a.m.

On Saturday, December 13, from 7:30–10:30 a.m. at the Thornton Active Adult Center, Thornton Parks & Recreation will host Breakfast with Santa, which will feature an all-you-can-eat breakfast, free photos with Santa, and a hot chocolate bar. No registration is required. Admission is $4 for ages 0–12 and 62+, and $6 for ages 13–61.
