How One Family Reclaimed Everyday Adventures
May 19, 2025

The Denver Mill Levy Program recently supported a local Denver family in obtaining a Wonderfold wagon to make everyday outings more accessible and enjoyable for their two children.
Their daughter, 8-year-old Aubrey, has an intellectual and developmental disability that makes her prone to wandering. As a result, simple outings like walks, trips to the store, or visits to the zoo felt nearly impossible without both parents present to ensure her safety.
“Our old wagon had served us well but was much smaller and no longer fit both kids comfortably, leading to meltdowns and bickering. It was also very easy for our daughter to exit, making elopement easier,” Aubrey’s mother shared.
The new Wonderfold wagon changed everything. With more space, a higher frame, removeable seats, and a 300-point weight limit, the sturdy design provides greater security for Aubrey and her sibling, while also giving the family peace of mind. Outings that once felt overwhelming now feel manageable, and even joyful.
“We use the wagon every day to get to and home from school. It’s been so helpful,” Aubrey’s mother shared.
To celebrate, Aubrey’s parents surprised their kids with the new wagon wrapped in a big red bow, which the family jokingly called “car commercial style.”
Thanks to this simple but impactful addition, the family is now able to embrace everyday moments and adventure with more ease, confidence, and togetherness.
