About Developmental and Behavioral Health Services (DBH)

Babies and toddlers have a lot to learn and some need extra support to learn as well as they can.

Grounded in a family-centered approach, The Department of Developmental and Behavioral Health (DBH) provides a supportive environment and knowledgeable professionals to respond to families’ questions about their child’s development and provide options for care that best meets their needs.

Program Eligibility

DBH provides diagnostic evaluation and  early intervention services to all children under the age of 3 that reside in Denver City and County.

Children over the age of 3, regardless of residence, may access DBH diagnostic evaluations if they have an insurance provider that contracts with RMHS.  Denver residents may be eligible for mill levy funding.

Evaluations and Referral Process

The first step to get an Early Intervention evaluation for a child is to make a referral to the EI Colorado program. You can do that by completing the online referral form, contacting EI Colorado at 833-733-3734 (833-REFER-EI) or emailing GetStartedwithEI@state.co.us.

If a child does not meet the State’s eligibility requirements for Early Intervention Services, but you still have concerns about a child’s development, reach out to: info-des@rmhumanservices.org or 720-512-1281.
