Meet Arlene

In July 2017, when temperatures were peaking in the high 90’s on a regular basis, RMHS received several requests from individuals whose conditions were exacerbated by high temperatures. In one instance, “Arlene’s” caregiver was concerned that Arlene’s seizure disorder would require medical attention if she could not manage the temperature in the apartment. Purchasing an air conditioning unit was beyond Arlene or her caregiver’s means so they reached out to RMHS for Mill Levy assistance.

Arlene’s case manager said, “This small expenditure made her life more comfortable and saved the taxpayers dollars in emergency medical services. How could something like this be provided to someone in need if we weren’t able to use the funds in such a flexible, individualized way?”
