RMHS Says Goodbye to Summer at Summerfest 2018

Summerfest Is an Annual Event Hosted by Rocky Mountain Human Services and Supported by the Denver Mill Levy

Only at the Rocky Mountain Human Services (RMHS) Summerfest would you find a yoga bus, a drum circle, face-painting, dancing, yard games and giant tortoise in one location. That’s what makes this annual event so unique for Denver adult residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

On Sept. 7, RMHS staff and five amazing community partners came together to create an unforgettable summer day for about 250 Denver residents at the Ruby Hill Park Pavilion.

Here is a quick snapshot of Summerfest 2018:

  • Moved by Music Therapy Services led revelers in a music therapy session.

  • Guided by Humanity Yoga brought along the beautiful mindfulness bus and led gentle yoga sessions.

  • Angel Services LLC offered relaxing massages and face painting.

  • The Downtown Aquarium brought along a giant tortoise and a macaw to join in the fun.

  • Pizzability provided samples of its soon-to-be-available (and delicious!) pizza.

  • Scott Uhl provided music to keep everyone dancing.

  • RMHS brought along a photo booth where attendees could strike their best superhero poses.

  • Old friends and new shared lunch, games and a variety of carnival food.

You can take a closer look at this fun-filled day by visiting the RMHS YouTube channel.

Funding for Summerfest comes from the Denver mill levy, or property tax, for Denver residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Thank you to Denver taxpayers for supporting this event.
